CNA – Certified Nursing Assistant

About the role

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides daily nursing care and support to residents in a healthcare facility. The role focuses on delivering routine care, monitoring resident health, and ensuring a safe, comfortable environment.

Key responsibilities

• Identify residents using wristbands or photo cards before providing care or meals.
• Record resident information using authorized abbreviations and maintain accurate flow sheets, notes, and charts.
• Report changes in resident condition, accidents, incidents, and grievances to the Nurse Supervisor or Charge Nurse promptly.
• Maintain confidentiality of protected health information and report any violations.
• Prepare resident rooms, greet and escort residents, and assist with personal belongings and transfers.
• Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration), weight, and intake/output as instructed.
• Answer resident calls, check on residents unable to call for help, and ensure personal care needs are met.
• Assist with food identification for residents with visual impairments and record food/fluid intake.

Required profile

• Trained to perform nursing care procedures required for the CNA role.
• Commitment to confidentiality and reporting of any unauthorized information access.
• Ability to follow facility policies on blood/body fluid exposure and documentation standards.
• Willingness to work collaboratively with nursing staff and participate in shift meetings.

Required skills

• Vital signs measurement (temperature, pulse, respiration).
• Resident documentation and flow‑sheet entry.
• Basic patient care procedures (assisting with mobility, personal hygiene, and feeding).
• Use of resident identification tools (wristbands, photo cards).
