Cloud Database Platform Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Cloud Database Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable, highly available database platforms across AWS and distributed environments. This role goes beyond traditional DBA responsibilities, focusing on platform engineering, automation, reliability, and performance at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage AWS RDS and Aurora environments (Aurora, MariaDB, Postgres).
• Operate and optimize Apache Cassandra clusters in multi‑region distributed environments.
• Build and maintain database infrastructure using Terraform as a core practice.
• Develop reusable Terraform modules for provisioning, networking, security, backup, and DR policies.
• Implement high‑availability and disaster‑recovery strategies, including multi‑AZ, replicas, and cross‑region failover.
• Define and enforce database platform standards for provisioning, configuration, and monitoring.
• Optimize performance through query tuning, indexing, and parameter adjustments.
• Build observability solutions using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and New Relic, and automate operational workflows integrated with CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in database engineering, SRE, or platform engineering.
• Strong hands‑on experience with production‑grade AWS RDS/Aurora.
• Experience working with distributed databases such as Apache Cassandra.
• Deep understanding of high‑availability, disaster‑recovery, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
• Solid knowledge of the AWS ecosystem (RDS, EC2, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch).
• Proven ability to build and maintain Infrastructure as Code at scale using Terraform.
• Linux systems administration experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and production incident management skills.
