Clinical Nurse III – Specialty Float

About the role

The Clinical Nurse III will work as a Specialty Float Registered Nurse on a full‑time, day‑shift schedule within the Morristown‑Hamblen Healthcare System. The role provides professional nursing care across assigned units, coordinating care plans with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high‑quality patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care, assess patient and family needs, and develop individualized care plans.
• Coordinate with physicians, LPNs, nursing assistants, and other staff to implement and evaluate interventions.
• Lead unit‑based process‑improvement initiatives and participate in facility‑wide quality projects.
• Precept new employees or students, providing education and performance feedback.
• Supervise LPNs, nursing assistants, techs, and sitters while adhering to policies, safety standards, and annual education requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of professional nursing experience; at least one year in a similar role preferred.
• Current Tennessee RN license and CPR certification; ACLS and PALS preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve complex clinical situations without direct supervision.
• Commitment to continuous quality improvement and patient‑centered care.

Required skills

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – preferred
