Circle Safety Officer – Workplace Safety Governance

About the role

The Circle Safety Officer (CSO) owns circle‑level workplace safety governance for Bharti Airtel across offices, technical sites, warehouses and partner/contractor operations. The role ensures policy deployment, statutory compliance, ISO 45001/14001 readiness, incident governance, proactive risk reduction and the strengthening of a safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation of Bharti Airtel’s safety policies and statutory requirements across the circle.
• Plan and conduct risk‑based audits and inspections of critical technical and office locations; support customer and regulatory audits.
• Support ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 audits, drive timely closure of observations and maintain risk registers.
• Monitor all incidents, unsafe conditions and near‑misses; ensure investigation, root‑cause analysis (RCA) and corrective‑preventive actions (CAPA).
• Lead the OHS program including inductions, refresher trainings, toolbox talks and awareness sessions.
• Ensure proper use of PPE, conduct hazard inspections and track remediation.
• Review fire‑safety compliance, coordinate with emergency authorities and drive mock drills.

Required profile

• Proven experience in occupational health and safety governance within a large, multi‑site organization.
• Strong knowledge of statutory safety regulations and ISO 45001/14001 standards.
• Ability to lead audits, risk assessments and incident investigations.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with security, facility, network, operations, HR, legal and external auditor teams.
