About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. The role includes end‑of‑day reconciliation, maintaining registers, and providing superior customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Process cash‑related instruments such as cheques, drafts, dividend warrants and pay orders within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests, collect cash for deposits, and record all transactions in the system.
• Maintain inward/outward cash registers, petty‑cash and assets registers, and submit requisitions to the regional head office.
• Perform daily cash tally, prepare end‑of‑day reports, and manage the branch vault jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, cross‑sell bank products, and educate them on alternate channels for transactions.
• Ensure compliance with all regulations, bank policies, and defined turnaround times for cash operations.

Required profile

• Graduation in any discipline, preferably Finance or Commerce.
• 1‑2 years of experience handling high‑volume cash transactions in a banking environment.
• Experience with financial modules/ERP for entry and consolidation of accounting data.
• Strong numerical ability, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
