Cashier – Branch Banking Operations

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at the branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. The role ensures accurate end‑of‑day reconciliation, maintains registers, and supports smooth cash handling for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposits, updating system entries accordingly.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash and assets registers, and submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare end‑of‑day reports, and manage the branch vault jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Provide courteous customer service, cross‑sell products, and educate customers on alternate channels.
• Ensure compliance with bank policies, regulatory requirements, and defined turnaround times for all transactions.

Required profile

• UG degree in any discipline, preferably Finance/Commerce.
• 1–2 years of experience handling high‑volume cash transactions.
• Familiarity with financial modules/ERP for entry posting.
• Ability to detect counterfeit notes and validate customer authenticity.

Required skills

• Cash handling and basic accounting skills.
• Strong numerical ability and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in computer operations and relevant banking software (training provided).
• Positive interpersonal and customer‑service orientation.
