Cashier – Branch Banking

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at the branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. The role ensures accurate end‑of‑day reconciliation, maintains registers, and supports a smooth cash handling function across multiple locations.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, process and disburse cash, cheques, drafts, dividend warrants and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Maintain inward/outward cash registers, petty‑cash and assets registers, and submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, end‑of‑day reporting and vault management jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers during deposits and withdrawals, provide courteous service, and identify cross‑selling opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with all banking regulations, internal policies and defined turnaround times for transactions.

Required profile

• Graduation (any stream), preferably Finance or Commerce.
• 1–2 years of experience handling high‑volume cash transactions in a banking or financial environment.
• Familiarity with financial modules/ERP for entry and consolidation of accounting data.
• Ability to validate customer authenticity and detect counterfeit notes.

Required skills

• Cash handling and accounting skills.
• Proficiency with ERP or financial software for transaction entry.
• Strong numerical ability and meticulous attention to detail.
• Basic computer operation and willingness to undergo on‑the‑job software training.
