Cashier – Branch Banking

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at the branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. This includes handling cheques, drafts, cash deposits and withdrawals, maintaining registers, and performing end‑of‑day reconciliations.

Key responsibilities

• Process cash transactions, including receipt and disbursement of cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and cash withdrawals within authorized limits.
• Maintain inward and outward cash registers, petty cash, and assets registers; submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare end‑of‑day reports, and ensure accurate vault operations jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, provide courteous service, cross‑sell bank products, and educate them on alternate channels.
• Validate customer authenticity during withdrawals and ensure compliance with AML/KYC policies.
• Update bank passbooks, process cash bundles for currency chest deposits, and verify cash deposit slips for audit purposes.

Required profile

• Graduation in any discipline, preferably Finance or Commerce.
• 1–2 years of experience handling high‑volume cash transactions.
• Experience with financial modules/ERP for entry posting and accounting data consolidation.
• Strong numerical aptitude, attention to detail, and ability to work under defined TATs.

Required skills

• Cash handling and accounting skills.
• Proficiency with ERP or financial modules for transaction entry.
• Basic computer operation and familiarity with banking software (training provided).
