Cashier – Branch Banking

About the role

This role is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations for the branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines, maintaining accurate registers and performing end‑of‑day reconciliations.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments, issuing acknowledgements as required.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests, collect cash against deposit challans, and handle loan repayment collections according to EMI schedules.
• Maintain inward/outward, petty cash and assets registers, and submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare the End‑of‑Day branch report and ensure vault operations are conducted jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Provide courteous customer service, address queries, cross‑sell products and educate customers on alternate banking channels.
• Ensure compliance with all banking regulations, internal policies and defined turnaround times for cash‑handling transactions.

Required profile

• UG degree in any discipline, preferably Finance or Commerce.
• 1–2 years of experience handling high‑volume cash transactions in a banking environment.
• Familiarity with financial modules/ERP for entry and consolidation of accounting data.

Required skills

• Cash handling and accounting proficiency.
• Ability to operate ERP or financial software for transaction entry.
• Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
