Cashier (Branch Banking)

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. The role involves accurate processing of deposits, withdrawals, and loan repayments while providing courteous customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and maintain appropriate system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty cash register, assets register and submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tally, end‑of‑day reconciliation and report in the Branch’s End‑of‑Day report.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and safeguard cash, keys and valuables.
• Interact with customers, identify cross‑sell opportunities and educate them on alternate channels.
• Ensure adherence to transaction turnaround times and compliance with bank policies and regulations.

Required profile

• Full‑time availability reporting to the Branch Operation Manager.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle cash accurately.
• Excellent customer service orientation.
• Understanding of banking procedures and regulatory compliance.
