Cashier – Branch Banking

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. The role involves accurate processing of deposits, withdrawals, and loan repayments, as well as maintaining cash registers and performing daily reconciliations.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders, and other cash instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments according to EMI schedules and record entries in the banking system.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty cash, and asset registers; submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare end‑of‑day reports, and ensure vault security jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, provide courteous service, explain repayment dates, and promote cross‑selling opportunities.
• Educate customers on using alternate channels for transactions.
• Ensure compliance with all regulations, bank policies, and defined turnaround times for transactions.

Required profile

• Experience in cash handling and banking operations.
• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to interact professionally with customers and address queries.
• Understanding of banking guidelines and compliance requirements.
