Cashier – Branch Banking

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. This full‑time position supports the smooth functioning of the branch by handling cash, maintaining registers, and providing courteous service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and record entries in the banking system.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty cash register, and assets register; submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, end‑of‑day reconciliation, and prepare the Branch End‑of‑Day report.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and cash custody with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, explain product features, cross‑sell services, and educate on alternate channels.
• Ensure adherence to turnaround times, regulatory compliance, and bank policies for all cashier operations.

Required profile

• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle cash and confidential documents responsibly.
• Excellent customer service orientation and communication skills.
• Understanding of banking regulations and internal cash‑handling procedures.
• Capability to work collaboratively with branch staff and senior officers.
