Cashier – Branch Banking

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for handling all cash‑related transactions at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. This full‑time position supports smooth branch operations through accurate processing, reconciliation, and customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposits, maintaining accurate system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash and asset registers, and submit requisitions to the regional head office.
• Perform daily cash tally, end‑of‑day reconciliation, and report results in the Branch report.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and cash custody with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, explain repayment schedules, promote bank products, and guide them to alternate channels.
• Ensure compliance with turnaround times, regulatory requirements, and bank policies for all cashier operations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; banking experience preferred.
• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle cash responsibly and maintain confidentiality.
• Good communication skills for customer interaction.
