Cashier – Branch Banking (Full‑time)

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at the branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. The role includes end‑of‑day reconciliation, maintaining registers and supporting customers with deposits, withdrawals and loan repayments.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments, providing acknowledgements.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans, ensuring accurate system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward cash registers, petty‑cash and assets registers, and submit requisitions to the regional head office.
• Perform daily cash tally, prepare the End‑of‑Day branch report and oversee vault operations jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, identify cross‑selling opportunities, and educate them on alternate channels for transactions.
• Ensure compliance with all banking regulations, internal policies and defined turnaround times for transactions.

Required profile

• Graduation in any discipline, preferably Finance or Commerce.
• 1–2 years of experience handling high‑volume cash transactions in a banking or financial environment.
• Familiarity with financial modules/ERP for entry and consolidation of accounting data.
• Ability to validate customer authenticity and detect counterfeit notes.

Required skills

• Cash handling and accounting proficiency.
• Computer operation and basic software usage (training provided).
• Strong numerical ability and attention to detail.
