Cashier – Branch Banking (Full‑time)

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at the branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. The role includes handling cheques, drafts, cash deposits and withdrawals, maintaining registers and performing end‑of‑day reconciliations.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments, providing acknowledgements and disbursing cash up to authorized limits.
• Collect cash against deposit challans, record repayments according to EMI schedules and maintain accurate system entries.
• Maintain inward and outward cash registers, petty‑cash and assets registers, and prepare requisition forms for the regional head office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare the End‑of‑Day branch report and ensure cash is safely stored in the vault together with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers during deposits and withdrawals, explain repayment dates, promote bank products and guide them to use alternate channels.
• Ensure compliance with all banking regulations, internal policies and defined turnaround times for cash‑handling transactions.

Required profile

• Graduation (any discipline), preferably Finance or Commerce.
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience handling high‑volume cash transactions in a banking environment.
• Familiarity with financial modules/ERP for posting cash entries and consolidating accounting data.

Required skills

• Cash handling and accounting skills, including detection of counterfeit notes.
• Proficiency in operating computers and banking software; on‑the‑job training provided for specific systems.
• Experience with financial modules or ERP systems for cash‑related entries.
