Cashier – Branch Banking (Full‑time)

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at the branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. The role includes maintaining accurate registers, performing end‑of‑day reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and bank policies.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments, providing acknowledgements.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans, updating system entries accordingly.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash and assets registers, and submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare end‑of‑day reports, and manage the branch vault jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, address queries, cross‑sell products, and educate them on alternate banking channels.
• Ensure adherence to transaction turnaround times, compliance with regulations, and accurate loan repayment accounting.

Required profile

• UG degree in any discipline, preferably Finance or Commerce.
• 1–2 years of experience handling high‑volume cash transactions.
• Familiarity with financial modules/ERP for entry posting and data consolidation.
• Ability to work accurately under time pressure and maintain meticulous records.

Required skills

• Cash handling and accounting proficiency.
• Operating knowledge of computers and relevant banking software.
• Strong numerical and data‑entry skills.
