Capital Controller – Projects (Finance)

About the role

The Capital Controller will oversee all capital expenditure (CapEx) for large‑scale construction and industrial projects, ensuring financial governance, cost efficiency, and alignment with strategic objectives. This role partners closely with Engineering, Projects, Supply Chain, and Corporate Finance to drive disciplined budgeting, control, and reporting throughout project lifecycles.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation, consolidation, and maintenance of annual and multi‑year capital budgets.
• Implement cost‑control mechanisms, track project spend via ERP (SAP) using WBS, cost centers, and AUC modules.
• Ensure timely and accurate capitalization of assets in line with Indian Accounting Standards and corporate policies.
• Develop dashboards and analytical reports to monitor CapEx utilization, forecast spend, and highlight variances.
• Drive compliance with capital authorization policies, internal controls, and audit requirements.
• Collaborate with Project Directors, Engineering Managers, and Supply Chain to validate milestones before payments or asset capitalization.

Required profile

• 9–14 years of experience in finance, preferably in capital project control or construction finance.
• Qualified CPA, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent professional certification.
• Proven ability to manage multi‑year capital budgets and complex project financials.
• Strong understanding of Indian Accounting Standards and asset capitalization processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems, specifically SAP.
• Experience using Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and cost‑center accounting.
• Advanced analytical and reporting capabilities.
