C++ Technical Lead

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a C++ Technical Lead to design and maintain complex software solutions for Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Equipment Automation in its Chennai facility. The role involves leading technical projects, mentoring engineers, and delivering high‑quality code for semiconductor equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software for MES and Equipment Automation using C/C++, C#.NET.
• Own features through the full lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and post‑release support.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable architecture and detailed design specifications.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across distributed systems and implement performance improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of software development experience in enterprise, industrial automation, or MES domains.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• C/C++ programming, C#.NET framework.
• Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Networking fundamentals and protocols.
• Data structures, algorithms, object‑oriented design, design patterns.
• Inter‑Process Communication (IPC) and Remote Procedure Call (RPC) technologies.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, automated testing, and source control systems.
