C++ Architect – Senior (14‑18 yrs exp)

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a senior C++ Architect to lead design and development of software‑hardware integrated solutions for semiconductor and display test systems. The role is based in Bangalore and involves collaboration with teams in Germany and India.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architecture design for modules spanning software‑hardware interfaces, including device I/O, data acquisition, algorithms, and GUI/UX.
• Develop high‑performance C++ and Python components on Linux, define clear interfaces, and contribute to code reviews and refactoring.
• Partner with DevOps to implement CI/CD pipelines, ensure artifact hygiene, and enhance observability through logging, metrics, and tracing.
• Design for performance, reliability, and resilience, strengthening test strategies across unit, integration, and system levels.
• Collaborate with global engineering counterparts to deliver customer‑focused outcomes and accelerate time‑to‑market.

Required profile

• 14–18 years of experience in systems design and integration of software‑hardware platforms.
• B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science, Electronics, or related fields.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset with ownership of end‑to‑end solutions.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional alignment.

Required skills

• Modern C++ (C++17/20) and Python development on Linux.
• Build tools such as CMake or Make and compilers gcc/clang.
• Systems design across software‑hardware interfaces, including device drivers and real‑time/embedded considerations.
• Testing frameworks, unit/integration testing, and code quality practices.
• AI‑assisted development tools and prompt‑based workflows.
• Experience with CI/CD, observability, and DevOps collaboration.
