Buyer – Exterior Commodities (Glass & Mirror)

About the role

The Buyer – Exterior Commodities will support post‑commercial purchasing activities from contract sign‑off through end of production for glass, mirror and related plastic components serving the North America market. The role combines operational purchasing, cost management and supplier relationship responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage operational purchasing activities for exterior commodities, placing accurate purchase and transfer orders on time.
• Execute multi‑year and calendar‑year cost claims, perform cost analysis, validate engineering change costs and develop zero‑based cost models.
• Identify and deliver cost‑saving opportunities and review tooling cost breakdowns.
• Collaborate with North America Category Buyers and cross‑functional teams (Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality) to lead commercial discussions and negotiations.
• Resolve commercial and supply issues, maintain strong supplier relationships, and support capacity uplift initiatives.
• Lead de‑risking, contingency planning and cost optimisation actions, providing regular status updates to management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 4–10 years of experience in commodity purchasing, procurement or strategic sourcing.
• Hands‑on experience with exterior commodities such as glass, mirror and plastic parts.
• Prior experience in an OEM automotive environment.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and negotiation abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to work a late evening shift (2:00 PM – 11:30 PM IST) to support North America stakeholders.
