Business Controller – Performance Materials (India)

About the role

Lead the Performance Materials (PM) Controlling team in India, providing guidance and acting as a valued business partner for internal stakeholders. Responsible for overall controlling, reporting, business analysis and compliance across sites in Thane, Dahej and Panoli, while driving digitalisation and AI initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit monthly analysis and business commentary (e.g., CM1 margin, fixed cost, manufacturing cost, CAPEX, raw material cost) to the A‑PMA Controlling SharePoint.
• Ensure data accuracy in SAP and Business Warehouse, coordinating with global business teams to resolve discrepancies.
• Lead the annual operational planning exercise for India and support public‑listed activities of BASF India Limited.
• Manage project controlling for capacity‑expansion projects and respond to ad‑hoc requests from RBU and OD.
• Conduct profitability (CM1) analysis at sub‑region, product and customer level and monitor fixed and variable cost developments.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities, update standard cost data, and support credit and inventory management.
• Coordinate internal and external audits (e.g., CEQ, project, operation, FRC audits) and ensure compliance.
• Promote the use of digital tools and AI for self‑service reporting and analysis.

Required profile

• Proven experience in controlling, financial reporting and business analysis within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of cost structures, profitability analysis and operational planning.
• Ability to lead a team and act as a business partner for multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical mindset with a focus on compliance and governance.
• Experience coordinating audits and managing project‑related financial controls.
