Business Controller – Performance Materials (India)

About the role

As a Business Controller for Performance Materials, you will lead the PM Controlling team across BASF’s Indian sites, ensuring accurate reporting, cost transparency and strategic financial insight. You will act as a trusted business partner for stakeholders, driving digitalisation and AI initiatives to improve efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the PM Controlling function in India, providing guidance and inspiring the team to become valued business partners.
• Oversee overall controlling, reporting and business‑analysis activities for the Thane, Dahej and Panoli sites.
• Ensure timely submission of monthly analyses, margin commentary, cost reports and capital‑expenditure updates.
• Maintain data accuracy in SAP and Business Warehouses, coordinating with global business teams to resolve discrepancies.
• Drive the annual operational planning exercise and support project controlling for capacity‑expansion initiatives.
• Conduct profitability (CM1) analysis, monitor fixed and variable cost development, and propose cost‑saving measures.
• Manage production cost analysis, standard‑cost updates, inventory monitoring and credit‑management collaboration.
• Lead digitalisation projects to promote AI usage and reduce manual tasks within controlling.

Required profile

• Proven experience in controlling, financial reporting and business analysis, preferably in a manufacturing or chemical environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret cost structures and identify improvement opportunities.
• Leadership skills to guide a multi‑site team and influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting insights and recommendations.
