Branch Cashier – Banking Operations

About the role

The Branch Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at the bank branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. This role supports the smooth functioning of the branch by handling cash, cheques, drafts, and other instruments while delivering courteous service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments according to EMI schedules and maintain accurate system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward cash registers, petty‑cash and assets registers, and submit requisitions to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, end‑of‑day reconciliation and prepare branch cash reports.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and safeguard cash, keys and valuables with the Assistant Branch Manager.
• Provide superior customer service, answer queries, and promote cross‑selling of bank products.
• Ensure adherence to turnaround times, regulatory compliance and bank policies for all cashier operations.

Required profile

• Experience in cash handling and banking operations, preferably in a branch environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate registers and records.
• Excellent customer‑service orientation and communication skills.
• Ability to follow defined procedures, compliance standards and turnaround‑time requirements.
• Integrity and reliability in handling cash and confidential information.
