Branch Cashier – Banking Operations

About the role

The Branch Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at the bank branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. This role supports the smooth functioning of the branch by handling cash, cheques, drafts, and other instruments, and by maintaining accurate registers and system entries.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, process, and acknowledge cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders, and cash withdrawal requests within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawals, collect cash for deposits, and process loan repayment collections according to EMI schedules.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty cash, and asset registers; submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, end‑of‑day reconciliation, and prepare the Branch End‑of‑Day report.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and cash custody with the Assistant Branch Manager.
• Provide courteous customer service, address queries, and promote bank products and alternate channels.
• Ensure compliance with all regulations, bank policies, and defined turnaround times for transactions.
• Validate customer authenticity during cash withdrawals and verify cash deposit slips for audit purposes.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling and record‑keeping.
• Excellent customer service orientation with the ability to communicate clearly.
• Understanding of banking procedures and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to work collaboratively with branch staff and senior management.
• Reliability in managing cash, keys, and other valuables.
