Branch Cashier – Banking Operations

About the role

The Branch Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at the bank branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. The role ensures accurate cash handling, maintains registers, and provides courteous service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments according to EMI schedules and record entries in the system.
• Maintain inward/outward cash registers, petty‑cash register, assets register and submit requisitions to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tally, reconcile transactions and prepare end‑of‑day branch reports.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and safeguard cash, keys and valuables with the Assistant Branch Manager.
• Interact with customers, identify cross‑selling opportunities and educate them on new products and alternate channels.
• Ensure compliance with bank policies, regulatory requirements and defined turnaround times for all cashier operations.

Required profile

• Experience in cash handling and banking operations.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
• Excellent customer service orientation and communication skills.
• Ability to validate customer authenticity and handle confidential information.
