Bid Engineer – Compact Welded Heat Exchangers

About the role

The Bid Engineer will support bid activities for medium to high‑complexity enquiries related to Compact Welded Heat Exchangers (Spiral and Compabloc) at Alfa Laval’s Pune site. The role combines technical analysis, cost estimation and close collaboration with sales and engineering teams to deliver competitive proposals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide bid support for Spiral and Compabloc heat exchangers, preparing equipment configurations, technical specifications and cost quotations.
• Participate in bid kick‑off and technical clarification meetings, aligning proposals with customer requirements and sales strategy.
• Review customer specifications, identify drivers, and develop accurate, timely quotation documents.
• Coordinate with internal departments (Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, Logistics) and international colleagues to ensure project deadlines and quality offers.
• Conduct risk assessments, review contracts, and propose improvements to the bid process and tools.

Required profile

• Mechanical or Chemical Engineer with at least 5 years of experience in quotation preparation or project management.
• Experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical or Pulp & Paper industries is preferred.
• Customer‑oriented, proactive, structured and able to manage multiple overlapping assignments.
• Strong communication skills in English; basic French is a plus.

Required skills

• Heat‑exchanger thermal design and sizing knowledge.
• Costing fundamentals, incoterms and commercial terms.
• Familiarity with relevant standards and codes such as ASME and PED.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word.
• Quotation preparation and project‑management techniques.
