Bank Cashier – Branch Operations

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. The role includes end‑of‑day reconciliation, maintaining registers, and providing courteous service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and record entries in the system.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash and assets registers; send requisitions to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tally, prepare end‑of‑day reports, and manage the branch vault jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, identify cross‑sell opportunities, and educate them on new products and alternate channels.
• Ensure adherence to turnaround times, regulatory compliance, and bank policies for cashier operations.
• Validate customer authenticity during cash withdrawals and verify deposit slips for audit purposes.
