Bank Cashier – Branch Operations

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations for a branch, following internal and external banking guidelines. The role ensures accurate entry of transactions, daily reconciliation, and safe handling of cash and valuables.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and maintain appropriate system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty cash register, and assets register; submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare end‑of‑day reports, and manage the branch vault jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers during deposits and withdrawals, promote cross‑selling opportunities, and educate customers on alternate channels.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, bank policies, and defined turnaround times for transactions.
• Validate customer authenticity for cash withdrawals and verify accuracy of cash deposit slips.

Required profile

• Experience in cash handling and banking operations.
• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow established procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Good communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
