Bank Cashier – Branch Operations

About the role

The Branch Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations in accordance with internal and external banking guidelines. Working under the Branch Operation Manager, the role ensures accurate processing, reconciliation and safe custody of cash and related instruments.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, process and acknowledge cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other cash instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans, maintaining appropriate system entries.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and update the system accordingly.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash and assets registers, and forward requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, end‑of‑day reconciliation and prepare the Branch End‑of‑Day report.
• Jointly manage the Branch vault and cash custody with the Assistant Branch Manager.
• Provide courteous customer service, address queries, cross‑sell products and educate customers on alternate channels.
• Ensure compliance with all banking regulations, internal policies and defined turnaround times for transactions.
• Validate customer authenticity during cash withdrawals and verify deposit slip accuracy for audit purposes.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling.
• Good communication skills for interacting with customers and identifying cross‑selling opportunities.
• Ability to work under supervision of the Branch Operation Manager and coordinate with the Assistant Branch Manager.
• Understanding of banking guidelines, compliance requirements and cash‑reconciliation procedures.
