Backend Software Engineer – AI Data Platform

About the role

Prophecy is building an AI‑native data preparation platform and needs a Backend Software Engineer to join its fast‑growing India engineering centre. You will work with a small, high‑performing team to create new features for the Prophecy IDE and help shape the next generation of data engineering tools.

Key responsibilities

• Design, code, test and launch new backend features for the Prophecy IDE.
• Own the end‑to‑end delivery of features, from requirements through production.
• Collaborate in short, agile development cycles and continuously improve metrics.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and help assess new technologies.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of backend programming experience solving deep‑tech problems.
• B.Tech or equivalent degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong analytical, debugging and problem‑solving abilities.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a high sense of ownership and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Scala or functional programming.
• Knowledge of Apache Spark internals.
• Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms and software design.
• Experience with backend development and building scalable services.
