Backend Engineer (Node.js & Python)

About the role

Sunfox Technologies is seeking a Backend Engineer to design, build and scale the services that power its products. You will own backend systems end‑to‑end, from API design and data modeling to deployment on AWS, collaborating closely with product, frontend and DevOps teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services, APIs and integrations.
• Architect solutions using both server‑based and serverless approaches, selecting the appropriate tools.
• Apply efficient system‑design techniques to ensure performance, resilience and cost‑effectiveness.
• Build and maintain REST, HTTP, gRPC and WebSocket services.
• Deploy, monitor and optimise workloads on AWS.
• Write clean, well‑tested, well‑documented code and participate in code reviews.
• Troubleshoot production issues, improve observability and reduce operational toil.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate product requirements into technical solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a backend or software engineer.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway and IAM.
• Proficiency in Node.js and Python.
• Experience with both server‑based and serverless architectures and solid understanding of scalability, caching, load balancing and fault tolerance.
• Strong API and socket programming skills across REST, HTTP and gRPC.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases and data modelling.
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD workflows.
• Good knowledge of security best practices, authentication/authorization and data protection.
