Backend Engineer (Java)

About the role

Apple’s Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) organization is looking for a Backend Engineer with strong Java expertise to help build and operate large‑scale enterprise services that power Apple’s customer support platforms, including AppleCare and the Genius Bar. You will work within the Customer Systems team, collaborating with cross‑functional partners to design, develop, and maintain high‑performance backend solutions that serve billions of requests worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable Java microservices using Spring Boot.
• Implement RESTful APIs and data‑caching strategies to support high‑traffic customer‑facing applications.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, and other engineering teams to define requirements and estimate effort.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and mentorship of junior engineers.
• Ensure solutions meet Apple’s performance, security, and availability standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience building enterprise‑grade backend systems.
• Proven ability to work independently and deliver solutions under pressure.
• Strong communication skills for cross‑team collaboration.
