Backend Engineer – AI & LLM Focus (Bengaluru)

About the role

Join Dodge AI as a Backend Engineer focused on building AI‑powered backend services for enterprise ERP systems. You will work on a 0‑1 product from the office in HSR, Bengaluru, collaborating closely with product and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend systems that power Dodge AI’s AI agents for ERP maintenance.
• Own features end‑to‑end, from problem definition through production deployment.
• Build reliable APIs, services, integrations and supporting infrastructure.
• Tackle complex engineering challenges involving AI‑driven enterprise workflows.
• Debug production issues, improve system reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to turn ambiguous problems into simple solutions.
• Contribute to engineering best practices as the team scales.

Required profile

• 3+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend development.
• Hands‑on experience building LLM‑powered applications using APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Gemini.
• Experience designing AI application‑layer systems, including agents, tool calling and structured outputs.
• Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP), context engineering and model routing.
• Comfortable taking ownership in ambiguous, early‑stage problem spaces and iterating quickly.
• Strong problem‑solving, debugging and systems‑thinking skills.
• Previous startup experience and willingness to work onsite in Bengaluru.
