Automation Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions for semiconductor and display manufacturing. As an Automation Engineer you will design, integrate and support automation systems that improve production, logistics and warehousing operations at our Bangalore site.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Zebra hardware and software solutions, including MotionWorks, readers and scanners.
• Design automated workflows for physical, factory, logistics and manufacturing automation.
• Implement warehouse and factory systems for real‑time asset tracking, IoT integration and low‑code platforms.
• Plan and configure mobile robotics platforms such as Geek+ and Standard Robots for AMR/AGV deployments.
• Integrate emerging technologies like RFID, vision inspection and RTLS into end‑to‑end solutions.
• Provide basic networking, Linux and middleware support for integrated automation environments.
• Apply Industry 4.0 best practices to enable smart factory and digital warehousing strategies.

Required profile

• 3–7 years of relevant automation experience.
• BE/B.Tech/M.Tech in Mechatronics, Electronics, Manufacturing Technology or Industrial Automation.

Required skills

• Zebra MotionWorks, readers and scanners.
• Physical, factory, logistics and manufacturing automation concepts.
• IoT tools and low‑code development platforms.
• Mobile robotics (Geek+, Standard Robots) and AMR/AGV systems.
• RFID, vision inspection and Real‑Time Location Systems (RTLS).
• Networking, Linux, IT infrastructure and middleware.
