Auditor – Internal Audit

About the role

The Auditor will perform independent, risk‑based audits across the bank’s corporate support departments and independent control units. This role ensures robust corporate governance, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and effective risk management for non‑revenue‑generating functions.

Key responsibilities

• Audit the Risk Management framework, including Credit Operational Risk and Market Risk limit monitoring.
• Review Compliance processes for regulatory updates, correspondence, and mandatory disclosures.
• Evaluate Financial Crime/AML transaction monitoring, suspicious transaction reporting and sanction screening.
• Assess Whistleblower and Fraud Risk Management frameworks for proper complaint handling.
• Audit HR operations such as payroll, background verification, incentive calculations and separations.
• Examine Procurement and Vendor Risk Management, covering tendering, onboarding, contract governance and SLA compliance.
• Review Corporate Real Estate, branch security, access controls and fixed‑asset management.
• Assess Business Continuity Management and Disaster Recovery plans across locations.
• Verify central accounting system health, including inter‑branch, suspense and high‑value office accounts.
• Audit data privacy and governance to prevent information leaks.
• Utilise data analytics (SQL, Excel) to test 100% of data populations in payroll, vendor payments and risk logs.
• Draft evidence‑backed audit reports and track closure of audit issues.

Required profile

• In‑depth knowledge of banking audit operations and the three‑lines‑of‑defence model.
• Ability to structure and customise audit solutions for complex environments.
• High emotional intelligence and assertiveness to audit independent control functions objectively.
• Strong analytical skills and understanding of central bank governance guidelines.
• Experience discussing findings with senior heads of Risk, Compliance, HR and Procurement.
• Proven track record of tracking and validating closure of audit issues.
