Attorney – Legal Counsel (Bangalore)

About the role

IBM is seeking an Attorney to join its Bangalore Legal Center of Excellence. The role involves providing comprehensive legal support to IBM’s global lawyers and business units, covering both transactional and non‑transactional matters.

Key responsibilities

• Support early‑stage commercial engagements, including direct and indirect distribution agreements, mergers and acquisitions, and related transactions.
• Advise procurement, real‑estate, human resources, finance and other functions on regulatory compliance, contractual disputes, litigation, intellectual property, workplace relations, privacy and cybersecurity issues.
• Collaborate with IBM’s worldwide legal teams to ensure consistent legal service delivery across all business areas.
• Contribute to continuous process improvement within the Legal CoE.

Required profile

• Qualified to practice law in India.
• 4–13 years of relevant experience in‑house, at a law firm, or a combination of both.
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher).
• Demonstrated integrity and ethical conduct.

Required skills

• Negotiation of IT contracts for services, software and cloud solutions with government and commercial entities.
• Knowledge of privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property and regulatory compliance matters.
• Experience in dispute advisory, litigation and government procurement processes.
