Associate – Markets Legal Counsel

About the role

We are seeking an Associate in the Markets Legal team to provide comprehensive legal support for derivatives, structured products, cash equities, prime brokerage, foreign exchange, commodities and clearing activities. Based in Mumbai, you will work closely with the Markets Practice Group across EMEA and APAC.

Key responsibilities

• Review constitutional documents to confirm corporate consents, capacity and authority before agreements are finalised.
• Support wholesale financial transaction documentation, including credit, trading, TOBs, prime brokerage, derivatives and regulatory filings.
• Assist global documentation and remediation projects, performing gap analysis against standard templates and policy manuals.
• Manage data extraction from agreements, maintain internal databases and contribute to firm‑wide initiatives.
• Draft, review and finalise notices, consents, MOUs, LOIs, RFPs and other documents using existing templates.

Required profile

• Strong drafting, negotiation and legal analytical abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, capable of interacting with senior business stakeholders.
• Self‑directed, highly motivated and collaborative, able to work in a high‑performing team.
• Effective at escalating issues, working to metrics and meeting tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Competency with documentation management systems.
• Experience using shared databases for legal data management.
