Associate Legal Counsel

About the role

LoopLoop is seeking its first dedicated legal hire to build and lead the legal function. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Associate Legal Counsel will manage day‑to‑day legal execution, create templates, playbooks and SOPs, and work closely with sales, marketing, product and finance to remove legal roadblocks as the company scales.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate SaaS Master Service Agreements, order forms, data processing agreements, NDAs and other commercial contracts.
• Lead issue‑based calls with merchants and their counsel, clarify Loop’s position and negotiate workable solutions.
• Maintain and periodically redesign contract templates to reflect regulatory changes and negotiation history.
• Support GDPR, UK GDPR and US state privacy compliance, aligning MSA, DPA, privacy notices and incident obligations.
• Assess cookie, tracking, API and subscription rules across markets and translate findings into product and contract actions.
• Partner with engineering, security and operations on PCI DSS, SOC 2 readiness and provide legal evidence for audits.
• Assist with IP protection, licensing, HR policies, employment agreements and routine business contract reviews.
• Create intake, approval, escalation, repository and obligation‑tracking SOPs and proactively identify and mitigate legal risks.

Required profile

• Law degree from a recognized institution.
• 2–5 years of hands‑on commercial contract drafting and negotiation experience, preferably in SaaS or technology environments.
• Ability to research multi‑jurisdictional legal questions and provide clear recommendations.
• Comfort communicating directly with merchants, business teams and technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Experience with SaaS commercial agreements (MSA, DPA, NDAs).
• Knowledge of GDPR, UK GDPR and US privacy laws.
• Familiarity with PCI DSS and SOC 2 compliance processes.
• Strong legal drafting and negotiation abilities.
