Associate I, Research & Development Process & Product Design

About the role

Alcon is seeking an Associate I to support research and development engineering activities for new product development. The role involves equipment specification, procurement, installation, validation, and ongoing maintenance of R&D laboratory assets while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on technical support for product design and development, including testing, documentation, and compliance activities.
• Perform routine product evaluations, maintain laboratory equipment, and collect data to support research efforts.
• Assist in troubleshooting product design issues and ensure adherence to regulatory and quality standards.
• Prepare, coordinate, and document post‑production risk reviews, update risk management reports, and maintain traceability matrices.
• Support design‑control engineers and other R&D stakeholders by querying internal and external databases, analyzing data, and summarising results.
• Mentor peers and contribute to the development of associate talent.

Required profile

• BS in Engineering or Science with 3‑5 years of experience, or an MS in Engineering with demonstrated interdisciplinary interest.
• Ability to work independently, proactively identify issues, propose solutions, and deliver quality results on schedule.
• Knowledge of ISO 14971, ISO 13485 (or US 21 CFR 820.30) and systems‑engineering principles.
