Associate – Direct Tax Professional

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Associate to join our corporate taxation team. The role offers hands‑on experience with direct tax compliance, assessments, litigation support and advisory services across a range of corporate and high‑net‑worth client matters.

Key responsibilities

• Handle scrutiny assessments, prepare responses to tax notices and liaise with the Income Tax Department.
• Draft and file appeals before the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals) and the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, including written submissions.
• Provide advisory support on corporate taxation, HNI tax planning, corporate structuring and transaction advisory.
• Manage direct tax compliance duties such as filing income tax returns, tax audits and certifications for cross‑border transactions (Form 15CB).
• Assist with trust assessments, payroll structuring initiatives and coordinate with auditors on tax computations and deferred tax positions.
• Collaborate with legal counsel to prepare submissions for tax appeals and writ petitions before the High Court.

Required profile

• Qualified Chartered Accountant.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in corporate taxation, tax litigation and compliance.
• Strong knowledge of the Income‑Tax Act, assessment procedures, appellate processes and cross‑border taxation.
• Proven ability to represent clients before tax authorities and work closely with legal and audit teams.
• Excellent analytical, drafting, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of the Income‑Tax Act and related regulations.
• Experience with tax audit procedures and filing of Form 15CB.
• Familiarity with tax appeal drafting and appellate documentation.
