Associate - Commercial Dispute Resolution

About the role

We are seeking an Associate to join our Commercial Disputes team in Mumbai. The role combines advisory work and litigation, handling domestic and international arbitrations as well as civil and commercial court matters.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in managing commercial litigation and arbitration matters, including drafting pleadings, replies to notices, and written submissions.
• Conduct legal research across statutes, case law and databases to support case strategy.
• Prepare and file documents with courts and arbitral tribunals, and liaise with clerks and senior counsel.
• Interact directly with clients to understand issues and provide updates.
• Support senior partners in drafting and reviewing contracts, corporate advisory documents, and IPR dispute materials.

Required profile

• Law degree (3-5 years) from a reputed university with strong academic record.
• 2‑3 years of post‑qualification experience in commercial litigation or arbitration.
• Exposure to corporate advisory work, securities, exchange control, or IPR disputes is a plus.
• Experience in domestic and international arbitrations involving contractual disputes.
• Proficiency in drafting legal notices, suits, appeals, writs, SLPs and submissions.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Indian commercial laws, IBC, Limitation Act, CPC, Company Law and Constitution.
• Strong command of spoken and written English.
• Ability to analyse legal issues, conduct research and produce first‑draft documents.
• Comfortable communicating directly with clients and senior lawyers.
