Associate Advocate – Litigation (3+ yrs experience)

About the role

Mehta And Mehta Law Firm is seeking an Associate Advocate with at least three years of post‑qualification litigation experience to join its Chennai office. The role involves handling civil, criminal and property‑related disputes, working closely with senior lawyers and independently managing assigned matters.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and file legal notices, pleadings, petitions, affidavits, agreements and legal opinions.
• Conduct legal research, analyse statutes, regulations and judicial precedents, and prepare case briefs and memoranda.
• Appear before courts, tribunals and other legal authorities, assisting senior counsel and managing case files.
• Develop litigation strategies, monitor court dates, filing requirements and procedural deadlines.
• Liaise with clients, senior counsel, court staff and other stakeholders, ensuring professional communication.
• Guide, train and supervise junior associates, interns and support staff, delegating tasks and reviewing their work.

Required profile

• LL.B. degree with enrolment under the relevant State Bar Council.
• Minimum three years of post‑qualification experience in civil, criminal and property litigation.
• Proven ability to draft and review a wide range of legal documents independently.
• Strong legal‑research skills and practical experience with court appearances and case management.
• Experience supervising junior team members and managing multiple matters and deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in Tamil and English is preferred.
