Assistant Tax Manager

About the role

The Assistant Tax Manager will support day‑to‑day direct tax compliance, reporting and advisory activities for a corporate environment. Working closely with finance, accounts and external consultants, the role ensures timely adherence to Indian tax regulations and transfer pricing requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file corporate income tax returns for domestic and overseas entities.
• Manage tax provisions, deferred tax assets/liabilities, advance tax, and contingent liabilities disclosures.
• Handle assessment proceedings, including normal and transfer‑pricing assessments, and coordinate litigation actions.
• Ensure compliance with TDS provisions and legal notices for all domestic entities.
• Conduct tax planning to utilise carry‑forward losses, foreign tax credit and timing differences.
• Review and file Form 15CB and Form 15CA for foreign payments.
• Support tax technology and process‑automation initiatives.
• Collaborate with external tax advisors, legal counsel and regional tax teams on complex direct tax issues.
• Provide advisory support to internal teams on tax implications of transactions and basic cross‑border matters.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.
• 2–3 years of experience in corporate tax or a CA firm serving corporate clients.
• Strong knowledge of Indian direct tax laws, transfer pricing and corporate tax compliance.
• Experience with tax assessments, litigation support and tax planning.
• Ability to work closely with finance, legal and external advisors.
