Assistant Professor of Psychology

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Professor of Psychology to join the School of Vedic Sciences at MIT Art, Design and Technology University. The role involves teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, integrating Indian psychological concepts with contemporary theory, and advancing research at the intersection of modern psychology and Vedic sciences.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality lectures in core subjects such as Cognitive, Clinical, Developmental Psychology and Research Methodology.
• Design and teach specialised modules that incorporate Indian Psychology concepts (e.g., Triguna, Pancha Kosha, Chitta).
• Mentor students in labs, field internships and dissertation projects.
• Conduct independent research, publish in indexed journals and apply for external grants (ICSSR, DST, ICHR, CPR).
• Contribute to curriculum development, syllabus revision and creation of innovative teaching aids.
• Participate in seminars, conferences, workshops and faculty development programmes.
• Perform administrative duties including exam invigilation, admissions counselling and NAAC/NIRF documentation.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related field (Cognitive Science, Counseling Psychology, Behavioral Sciences) from a recognised university.
• Master’s degree in Psychology with at least 55 % marks.
• Strong record of independent research with publications in Scopus, Web of Science or UGC‑CARE indexed journals.
• Experience in writing research proposals and securing grants is highly desirable.
• Interest in Indian Psychology, Yoga Psychology, Consciousness Studies or Philosophy of Mind.
• Prior university teaching experience is an asset.
• Excellent communication, presentation and academic writing skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative analysis tools: SPSS, R, AMOS, NVivo.
