Assistant Professor (non‑tenure track) – Statistics & Mathematics

About the role

Two non‑tenure‑track Assistant Professor positions are available at the Institute for Statistics and Mathematics, Vienna University of Economics and Business. The full‑time posts (40 h/week) start on 15 September 2026 and are limited until 29 February 2028.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent research and supervise doctoral and master students in mathematics applied to economics and business.
• Focus on statistics, computing & machine learning, stochastic processes & financial mathematics, and operations research & optimization.
• Teach quantitative programmes at BSc and MSc level (approximately 4 h/week), in English and optionally in German.

Required profile

• Diploma or MSc and a PhD in mathematics, statistics or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated scientific excellence through publications in internationally recognised journals, pre‑prints, and conference presentations.
• International experience is an advantage.
• Ability to teach in English (required) and German (advantage).
• Teaching experience in a business school or economics department is a strong plus.
• Willingness to use multimedia teaching and learning formats.
