Assistant Manager – Warehouse Operations (Chennai)

About the role

The Assistant Manager will oversee multi‑shift warehouse operations in the Economic Zones of Chennai, ensuring peak efficiency, on‑time delivery and high customer satisfaction. The role combines hands‑on supervision, process optimisation and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily warehouse and yard activities, including quality assurance, inventory control, space management, logistics, shipping and customer service.
• Manage shift rosters, attendance, manpower planning and workload levelling to meet inbound/outbound TAT targets.
• Maintain zero inventory variance through cycle counts, perpetual inventory and internal/external stock audits.
• Oversee WMS updates, data capture and documentation, and support audit processes.
• Collaborate with transport, HR and other departments to ensure smooth task completion and adherence to KPI/SLA commitments.

Required profile

• 8–12 years of experience managing large warehouses (≥150,000 sq ft) with multiple clients and SKUs.
• Post‑graduation/Graduation/Diploma in a relevant field; Six Sigma or WMS certifications are a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (home‑grown, Oracle or SAP).
• Strong knowledge of MS Office applications.
• Analytical ability for space optimisation and process streamlining.
