Assistant Manager - Unit HRBP

About the role

The Assistant Manager – Unit HR Business Partner (HRBP) supports the HR function by managing employee relations, payroll, statutory compliance, and HR operations for a large workforce. This individual contributor role works closely with union representatives, contract labour providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth HR processes and a positive work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain cordial relations with workmen and union representatives; attend union meetings, handle grievances, and drive engagement initiatives.
• Prepare and execute settlements, notices, and disciplinary actions in compliance with applicable labour laws.
• Handle end‑to‑end payroll processing for workmen and contract staff, ensuring 100% accuracy and timeliness.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements under the Factories Act, CLRA, ID Act, Payment of Wages Act, Minimum Wages Act, PF, ESI, and related regulations.
• Maintain registers, records, and returns required by various labour legislations.
• Monitor contract labour deployment, attendance, and statutory documentation; conduct regular audits of contractor compliance.
• Liaise with government authorities during inspections to achieve zero non‑compliance observations.
• Oversee administrative activities such as canteen, transport, housekeeping, uniform management, and statutory notices.
• Support manpower planning, time‑office, and attendance management.

Required profile

• Conceptual knowledge in HR and practical experience in employee relations and payroll.
• Understanding of key business drivers and ability to apply this knowledge to daily tasks.
• Ability to solve standard HR problems using established practices and guidelines.
• Effective communication skills to explain information clearly in straightforward situations.
