Assistant Manager – Production

About the role

The role involves day‑to‑day running of the WASAPL Integra workshop and on‑site welding teams. The workshop specialises in rebuilding worn components and fabricating new wear‑resistant parts for the steel, cement and mining industries.

Key responsibilities

• Estimate RFQs for the sales team and monitor job progress and QA documentation.
• Plan production, ensure availability of consumables and outsourced items, and manage 5S implementation.
• Lead the Integra team of engineers and welders, both on‑site and in the workshop.
• Maintain QA records in line with the QMS and oversee vendor development for machining and fabrication.
• Ensure health and safety compliance, equipment maintenance and regular stock‑taking of consumables.

Required profile

• Technical qualification in Welding Engineering with practical knowledge of Mechanical and Metallurgical engineering.
• Ability to create welding procedures, instructions and manage welding processes.
• Proven leadership and people‑management skills, with strong communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as project requirements dictate.

Required skills

• Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering concepts.
• Proficiency with welding equipment, accessories and hard‑facing techniques.
• Working knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD and ERP systems.
• Implementation of 5S, health‑ and‑safety standards and continuous improvement practices.
