Assistant Manager - AFR Import Operations

About the role

The Assistant Manager – AFR Import Operations will support the Air Freight Operations team in driving efficient import processes, ensuring regulatory compliance and delivering an excellent customer experience. This role works closely with network offices, carriers, vendors and customs brokers to optimise capacity, manage shipments and contribute to profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Enhance operational processes to support volume growth and efficiency.
• Implement new initiatives and CW1 best practices, including milestone updates and tool utilisation.
• Manage delivery order issuance, shipment execution, invoicing, cost booking, claims handling and customer complaint resolution.
• Monitor KPIs, address inter‑company issues and customer disputes, and maintain a healthy P&L.
• Oversee end‑to‑end import activities for a defined customer set, from booking to delivery.
• Maintain relationships with carriers, vendors, customs brokers and internal network partners.
• Register and resolve complaints, reconcile network issues and support day‑to‑day export operations as needed.
• Promote sustainable environmental practices within air freight operations.

Required profile

• Strong customer‑centric mindset with the ability to manage accounts independently.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• Proactive attitude with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Experience in air freight or logistics operations, preferably in import processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the CW1 operational tool and related search grids.
• Solid understanding of import regulatory compliance and customs procedures.
• Ability to analyse performance data and drive process improvements.
