Assistant General Manager – Finance

About the role

The Assistant General Manager – Finance will lead the school’s Accounting Department, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting and strategic support for decision‑making. Reporting directly to the Head of School and working closely with regional finance, the role combines operational oversight with high‑level financial analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain internal control systems across all school departments to safeguard assets.
• Oversee the accounting system, ensuring timely monthly and annual financial reporting and accurate general ledger reconciliations.
• Manage the annual budgeting process, forecasts, and monthly variance analysis in partnership with the Head of School.
• Supervise payables, receivables, payroll processing and the fixed‑asset register.
• Liaise with banks, auditors, legal and tax advisors to ensure compliance with government reporting and tax filings.
• Provide financial analysis for capital investments, pricing decisions and contract negotiations.
• Collaborate with HR, Operations and Admissions to align financial planning with school objectives.

Required profile

• Qualified Chartered Accountant with 8‑12 years of post‑qualification experience.
• Proven experience leading an accounting team in an educational or similar institutional setting.
• Direct reporting experience to senior leadership and ability to work with regional finance functions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Workday and other enterprise accounting software.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and cash‑flow management.
